6-Day Yuanyang Hani Terraced Fields Photography Tour:From Kunming via Jianshui, Yuanyang, Mengzi and Shilin

Transfer to Jianshui, visit Fuxian Lake and Xingmeng Mongolian Village on the way;

After arriving Jianshui, we will visit the Jianshui Ancient Town and the Chaoyang Gateway, which was built in Ming Dynasty (1389). It is also known as ‘Miniature Tian’an men’ because the out shape of it is similar to Tian’anmen Square in Beijing. Visiting a typical southern private garden-the Garden of Family Zhu.

Getting up early in the morning, we’ll drive 30KM to visit Doyishu Village and enjoy the sunrise of Duoyishu Rice Terrace Fields when the sun appears above the eastern horizon. The terraced fields are ring upon ring and cascade one by one. They go along the hillside up to the sky. We can see the scenery of the terraced fields from the top of the mountains to the bottom. They are all farms under the sunshine and cloud and mist. The landscape is spectacular. After that, we will visit Qingkou Village and rice terraces where Hani people for generations inhabit. Visit Bada Hani Rice Terrace, Shengcun Market as well.

Transfer to Mengzi City via Gejiu.

8:00 AM – Depart from Mengzi
Start your day early in Mengzi, a city known for its historical charm and beautiful landscapes. The drive to Kunming takes approximately 3.5 to 4 hours, so you’ll want to depart early to maximize your time at each location.

9:30 AM – Stop at Mile Red Wine Manor
Duration: 1 hour

Activities: Mile, known as the “Wine Capital of Yunnan,” is famous for its wine production, particularly red wine made from the region’s unique grapes. At the Mile Red Wine Manor, you can take a tour of the vineyard, learn about the winemaking process, and taste some of the region’s best wines.

Highlights: Vineyard tour, wine tasting, scenic views of the rolling hills and grapevines.

Tip: If you’re interested in wine, you can purchase a bottle or two as a souvenir.

10:30 AM – Depart for Dongfengyun Farm
Duration: 1 hour

Drive time: 30 minutes to 1 hour

Activities: Dongfengyun Farm is a well-known agricultural attraction offering a variety of local produce, including fresh fruits and vegetables, and often features activities like fruit picking (depending on the season). You can enjoy the beautiful countryside, see farming techniques, and perhaps sample fresh, local produce.

Highlights: Farm tour, fresh produce tasting, walking through scenic countryside areas.

12:00 PM – Lunch
You can stop at a local restaurant near Dongfengyun Farm or Mile for a traditional Yunnan meal. Enjoy dishes like crossing-the-bridge noodles or steam-pot chicken (汽锅鸡), which are popular in the region.

1:30 PM – Depart for Stone Forest
Duration: 1.5 hours

Drive time: 1.5 hours from Mile or Dongfengyun Farm

Activities: The Stone Forest (Shilin) is one of Yunnan’s most famous natural landmarks and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It features extraordinary limestone formations that have been eroded over millions of years, creating a surreal and dramatic landscape. There are several walking paths, viewpoints, and photo opportunities.

Highlights: Scenic walk through the stone formations, visiting the Big Stone Forest area, exploring caves and narrow corridors between rock columns.

Tip: The Stone Forest is vast, so you may want to prioritize the most iconic parts, such as the Big Stone Forest (大石林) and Minor Stone Forest (小石林).

3:30 PM – Depart for Kunming
After exploring the Stone Forest, it’s time to head to Kunming.

Drive time: 1.5 to 2 hours from Stone Forest to Kunming.

5:30 PM – Arrival in Kunming
You will arrive in Kunming by the late afternoon, allowing you to relax or explore a bit of the city if you have time. Kunming is known as the “Spring City” due to its mild climate, and it has plenty to offer in terms of dining, shopping, and cultural sights. If you have time, you can visit Green Lake Park (滇池) or Kunming Old Street.

Transfer to Kunming International Airport for leaving.
